What types of kitchen furniture are there?

Let’s call a spade a spade. That’s why, in the article below, we have compiled a detailed list of the kitchen furniture that exists and that you can find in the OB Cocinas catalogue.

This way, expressing your ideas when planning your new favourite room with any of our distributors will be much easier. Take note!

Base units

As the name suggests, these are the units that are placed in the lower part of the kitchen above the floor. These units create the basic structure of the kitchen and serve as a support for the worktop, thus creating the surface on which we will prepare those unforgettable recipes (and much more!).

Depending on your needs, you can choose them with shelves inside and doors, or with drawers.

The current trend is to choose them with drawers inside, as this way we have better access to all the utensils or ingredients we store; improving ergonomics.

And speaking of ergonomics: in our catalogue you can find different heights of base units to suit your needs: from 70 or 80 centimetres.

As for the depth, our standard measurement is 57 centimetres.

Corner furniture

This is actually an adaptation of the base unit. The difference is that part of its capacity is not directly accessible because it is located in a corner of the kitchen.

To overcome this disadvantage and to make the most of this space, we have pull-out tray systems. Not a centimetre is wasted!

In column or semi-column

A great option for making the most of vertical space. This type of furniture rises from the floor to the ceiling (or to an intermediate height, if they are semi-columns) and inside you can find shelves, drawers or a combination of both.

They are ideal for creating pantries or breakfast areas, but also for installing appliances such as the refrigerator or the now famous oven and microwave combo.

Lately we have been seeing a new use for these units: installing the dishwasher halfway up the column, which is very practical and convenient for loading and unloading! Of course, integrated into the aesthetics of the unit.

Wall units

You can’t go wrong: these are units that sit directly on the wall, above the base units and leave space above the worktop for working. Our standard depth is 35 centimetres.

Our standard depth is 35 centimetres and they can be as high as you need, from 25 to 90 centimetres. Do you need even more height?

In our catalogue we have different types of doors and opening systems, even automated and with light! You can see all the options at your nearest dealer near you.

Worktop units

This type of furniture is a great option for kitchens with a large work surface. They are placed directly on the worktop to make the most of all the storage space available, creating the effect of a sideboard (they look great in open concept kitchens).

In our catalogue you can find them with a standard depth of 35 centimetres, although we can also manufacture them with the same depth as the base units (57 centimetres).

Breakfast rooms

The famous breakfast tables are not a type of furniture in themselves, but, taking advantage of the structure of some pieces of furniture, we design them to fulfil this function.

At the moment it is a trend to create them from a column unit with retractable doors; although we also see many examples with hanging shelves or with units on a worktop with a shutter opening.

Showcases

Something similar happens with the showcases: any of our furniture is fitted with glass doors (and interior light to give it that extra point) to create showcases, although we also have specific doors, such as the Bold showcase.

And when we say any, we mean any. Although it is usual to install them in column units, on worktops or tall units, it is increasingly common to find them in base units in kitchen islands. Your imagination is the limit!
